Discovery Cove Welcomes New Baby Dolphin

Thelma, the Atlantic bottlenose dolphin who makes her home at Discovery Cove in Orlando, Florida, became a momma this week to a brand new baby dolphin. There have been 22 dolphins born at Discovery Cove since its opening in 2000. No name yet on the sex or name of the baby, but both mom and baby are doing fine.

Discovery Cove is a serene tropical getaway where guests can lie on a sandy beach, float along a river, and snorkel in a bay teeming with tropical fish and featuring a coral reef. Guests also have the chance to see exotic birds up close in the aviary and swim with the dolphins who call Discovery Cove their home.

There’s plenty of room to explore and move around Discovery Cove without fighting the crowds. They only allow about 1,000 people in per day. The all-inclusive packages at Discovery Cove (with or without dolphin swim) include food and beverages, wetsuits, masks, snorkels, towels, and beach chairs.
