The 2009 Epcot Food and Wine Festival kicks off on September 25 and runs through November 8. This wildly popular event, sponsored by Vanity Fair, gives visitors the chance to sample culinary creations and wine pairings from all over the world. As anyone who has visited Epcot Center knows, the attraction is arranged by "country." During the Food and Wine Festival, more than twenty-five international market centers in the World Showcase will serve up regional food and beverage specialties.
Participants will have a chance to sample the following foods:
• Spanakopita from Greece
• Escabeche from Spain
• Fisherman's pie from Ireland
• Kielbasa from Poland
• Maple sugar candy from Canada
• Gulab jamun from India
• Gumbo from New Orleans
• Shrimp stew with coconut and lime from Rio de Janiero
• And much more
Drink offerings include:
• Kirin beer from Japan
• Chilean wines
• Mojitos from San Juan, Puerto Rico
• French wines
• Moosehead beer from Canada
• Royale tangerine mimosa from Morocco
• Guinness draught from Ireland
• Wines and other specialty drinks from all over the world
In addition to food and drink, the Food and Wine Festival will offer a concert series featuring some of today's hottest acts. Cooking demonstrations and seminars are also planned featuring world famous chefs, sommeliers, wine makers, and food experts.
Tickets for the 2009 Epcot Food and Wine Festival go on sale on August 11 at 7:00 am. Events range in price from $35 to $375. Paying the admission fee to Epcot is required in most cases as well, but some of the events are free to Epcot visitors.
