Central Florida is known for its gators and theme parks, but did you know there’s a theme park devoted entirely to gators here?

Located at the head of the Florida Everglades, Gatorland is a 110-acre theme park that started out in 1949. What started out as a tiny attraction at the side of the road with a few alligators has turned into a modern-day major attraction with a water park, tours, shows, and even a railroad! There’s a restaurant onsite for hungry gator watchers as well. Gatorland even has “characters” sort of like Disney World—these are two hillbilly-type fellows called Bubba and Cooter. There are also some ruggedly handsome “gator wrestlers” onhand as well.

Now, in celebration of the theme park’s sixtieth anniversary, the 60,000th guest will receive a prize package worth over $6,000. Even before the 60,000th guest hits the entrance, there will be random specials and giveaways as the countdown in anticipation of that special guest. There are also other specials on different days including specials for teachers, seniors, military members, and Florida residents.

Gatorland is located between Kissimmee and Orlando on the South Orange Blossom Trail. Just look for the gigantic alligator-mouth entrance.
