Give a Day, Get a Day at Disney World

Give a Day, Get a Day at Disney World

This year, spending your birthday at Walt Disney World or the Disneyland theme park will get you free admission to the park on the actual date of your birthday. For 2010, Disney is planning something a bit different.

For 2010, if you give a day, you get a day. That is, if you give a day of volunteer work, you will get a free day at Disney. When you sign up and volunteer with a participating organization, you will receive a ticket good for one day of admission to Disneyland or Disney World. You have to sign up through the official Disney parks Web site, and if you don't sign up, even if you do the work, you won't get the ticket. The key is to sign up and then do the work. And no matter how many days of service you perform, you'll only receive one ticket. The great thing is that while you must be 18 to actually sign up, you can sign up your children from ages 6-17. They must, of course, perform the volunteer work on their own. You can sign up to eight additional members of your household.

There are black-out dates, but only between eight and ten days depending on the park you'd like to visit. The program officially begins January 1, 2010 and goes until December 15 or until all tickets are gone. Volunteer opportunities are arranged through HandsOn Network. You can visit their site or the Disney park official site for more information.
