Magic Kingdom Cast Members Row Their Boats
Magic Kingdom Cast Members Row Their Boats
Walt Disney World cast members gathered once again this week for the annual canoe race held onsite. The race has been officially held since 1973 but began unofficially in 1963. It starts at 6:30 am at the Rivers of America near the Country Bears Jamboree and passes by Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Tom Sawyer's Island, and the Haunted Mansion. The race is called C.R.O.W., short for Canoe Races of the World.
There's no big prize, but for the winning cast members, bragging rights and camaraderie is reward enough. The canoes used for the events are the same canoes that were used at the Davy Crockett's Explorers attraction until 1994.
Teams usually carry the same theme as the area of the park where team members work together. One team from the Polynesian resort, called the Raratonga Rowas wore grass skirts and painted their faces to reflect their work area's island theme.
