A New Disney Princess

A New Disney Princess

A new Disney princess has made her official debut at Walk Disney World's Magic Kingdom. This past Monday, Tiana, star of the newest Walt Disney Pictures animated feature film "The Princess and the Frog," was welcomed by all of the Disney characters in front of Cinderella's Castle. There was also a parade held in her honor. Tiana, dressed in a magnolia-inspired gown as homage to her New Orleans origins, was paraded through Main Street in a white horse-drawn carriage. Donald Duck presented her with a bouquet of flowers and she was also greeted by members of the pop group Boys II Men. Some lucky park guests had a chance to meet Tiana and have their pictures taken with her. She was accompanied by Prince Naveen, the requisite handsome prince that every Disney princess must have.

Princess Tiana is Disney's first African American princess. "The Princess and the Frog" opens nationwide in December and features Anika Noni Rose as the voice of Tiana and Oprah Winfrey as the voice of Tiana's mother. She will be appearing at the Orlando part through January 3 and appearing in "Tiana's Showboat Jubilee" at Liberty Square with a cast that includes dancers and a jazz band.
